At Hudson Pier Garage

Zehngut developed his talents as an artist while driving a city bus in New York from 1974 to 1997. He was always inspired by the views of the city from his driver's seat. In 1989, his art-loving supervisor Harry Caddell gave him an opportunity to express his enthusiasm by offering him his regular salary to paint a mural at the entrance to the bus garage. The result was a 26-foot wide mural showing the views that a bus driver would have while driving over the bridge from Manhattan to the borough of Queens, New York. Completed in two weeks, the drivers and administrators applauded his accomplishment.
